Practice Areas > Elder Law
Unfortunately, older, vulnerable adults may fall victim to unscrupulous individuals who exploit them financially or who neglect or abuse them physically. Typically, the unscrupulous individuals are somehow able to gain the trust or confidence, or become responsible for the care of, someone who is essentially unable to protect himself or herself. This inability may be due to physical or mental frailty, intimidation, or physical disability.
In Arizona, there are special laws designed to protect vulnerable adults, to stop and punish the wrongdoers. This special statute is known as the Arizona Vulnerable Adult Statute and is found at A.R.S. sections 46-456 et seq.
At Cooley & Robbins we are committed to working with those who know someone who may have been exploited or abused, or who believe they have themselves been exploited or abused.
